Drive Your Way

Also known as enduro bikes or off-road touring bikes, adventure motorbikes are precisely what they sound like: motorcycles which are sure to guarantee the adventure of a lifetime. Not quite a dirt bike, but also more intense than a sport tourer, adventure motorbikes are perfect for long trips on both tar and otherwise. If you’re looking to invest in one, here are the top 6 new adventure bikes for 2019.

KTM 1290 Super Adventure R

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R may have its roots firmly in the dirt bike world, but the WP suspension, steering damper, brakes, and chassis work in perfect harmony to create a 160hp, 6-speed, adventure machine. Weighing in at just below 270kg, the 1290 Super Adventure R has a Motorcycle Stability Control package, multi-mode combined ABS, and multi-mode traction control making it the perfect bike for any situation.

BMW R 1250 GS

The BMW Adventure line is the ultimate in adventure bikes and the R 1250 GS brings even more power. Compared to the previous model, the R 1250 GS gained an extra 11hp and the note of the exhaust has been toned down. Released standard with 2 riding modes, rain and road, the R 1250 GS has connectivity with a 6.5” TFT display and LED lights.

Triumph Tiger 1200 XCa

As the flagship of the Triumph 1200 line, the XCa is substantially lighter with more adaptive cornering, shift assist, a high-end Arrow exhaust, and 6 riding modes – including Rider programmable and Off-Road Pro – which are just as impressive as your favourite Australian online pokies. Thanks to these 6 riding modes, the rider is provided with maximum control when it’s needed most so you can push your ride to the limit.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro

The dream bike of many adventure motorbike fans, the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro 158hp, Quick Shift, Vehicle Control Hold, Traction Control, and Ducati’s expert Cornering ABS/DTC. With a 19” front wheel and a double-sided swing arm, the 1260 Enduro also has update suspension travel thanks to the DSS (Ducati Skyhook Suspension) Evolution. Other features include cruise-control, backlit handlebar controls, a colour TFT display, and Pirelli Scorpion tyres.

Yamaha Super Tenere ES

To say that the Yamaha 2019 Super Tenere ES has built-in Dakar DNA is an understatement. With a very dirt-orientated feel, the slim 1199cc parallel twin engines provide excellent power and the Super Tenere ES is a shaft-drive 6-speed machine which makes use of a twin downdraft throttle body for ultimate control and acceleration. With a two-position Drive Mode, riders are able to adjust accordingly for conditions.

Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports

2018 saw a bigger and better Adventure Sports model from Honda’s beloved Africa Twin and this year is no different. 2019’s model retains the larger fairing, offers new colours, has an 80mm-taller windscreen, and heated grips. With a tank that holds 24L, the Africa Twin Adventure Sports has a taller saddle height than the Africa Twin Standard and also comes in a DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) model with a shiftless auto system.
